Therapeutic Modalities

My therapeutic approach is rooted in humanistic principles, emphasizing self-exploration and self-acceptance as pathways to growth. I also integrate psychodynamic insights to explore and understand clients' underlying patterns. In order to tailor treatment to each individual client, I use an eclectic blend of therapeutic modalities leveraging the specific tools and techniques that will be most effective. In my practice, I am informed in the following modalities:

Ball in Spiral

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Learn to align your actions with your values—without fighting your thoughts

Paint Strokes

Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT)
Building emotional intelligence through deeper connection—with yourself and others

Stillness

Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Healing through understanding the parts that make up your inner world

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you break free from unhelpful thought patterns by teaching you how to accept what’s outside of your control and commit to actions that align with your values. Instead of struggling to eliminate painful feelings, ACT supports you in creating a more fulfilling life by making space for those feelings while still moving forward. We’ll use mindfulness strategies and values clarification exercises to help you become more present and engaged, even in difficult moments. ACT is especially effective for anxiety, depression, and life transitions—and for anyone who feels "stuck."

Rooted in attachment theory, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy focuses on how your emotional patterns and early relationship experiences shape your current struggles. EFIT helps you access, understand, and transform core emotions that may be driving anxiety, depression, or relationship issues. Together, we’ll explore your emotional world with compassion and curiosity. By understanding how your attachment patterns affect your sense of self and safety, EFIT helps create emotional security from the inside out.

Internal Family Systems is a powerful, non-pathologizing approach that views your mind as made up of different “parts”—each with its own voice, perspective, and role. Some parts may carry pain or protect you from it, while others help you function day to day. IFS helps you access your core Self, which is inherently calm, compassionate, and capable of healing. You’ll learn to identify and interact with your inner parts in a respectful and curious way. This approach is particularly effective for trauma, anxiety, and self-esteem issues, offering deep insight and internal harmony.

Trauma Informed Practice
Healing at your own pace, with safety and empowerment

Narrative Therapy is based on the idea that we make sense of our lives through stories—and sometimes, those stories become limiting or painful. This modality helps you externalize problems and explore new, more empowering narratives that reflect your strengths and possibilities. Through guided conversation and reflective questioning, we’ll examine the stories you’ve been living by. By shifting perspective, Narrative Therapy gives you more freedom to define your identity on your own terms.

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment with openness and without judgment. Whether integrated into other therapeutic approaches or used on its own, mindfulness can help calm the nervous system, reduce emotional reactivity, and increase your ability to respond—rather than react—to stress. We might use simple breath work, body scans, or guided meditation to help anchor you in the now. Practicing mindfulness strengthens emotional regulation and supports healing for anxiety, depression, trauma, and chronic stress.

Trauma-Informed Therapy isn't a single method—it’s a compassionate, holistic approach that prioritizes safety, trust, and choice. Whether you're dealing with the effects of a specific traumatic event or long-term emotional wounds, this modality honors your pace and emphasizes your strengths. In our sessions, I focus on building a secure, respectful therapeutic relationship. You’ll never be pushed to revisit difficult memories before you’re ready. Instead, we’ll work together to build coping tools, stabilize your nervous system, and gently process trauma in a way that feels empowering.

Choosing the right therapist can feel overwhelming -- especially if you're new to therapy.

As your therapist, my role is to meet you where you are and integrate these modalities in a personalized way that supports your goals for therapy. If you have questions or want to learn more about how we might work together, I welcome you to reach out to set up a brief consultation call.
